7. Why does Puerto Rico matter to this story?

How important was the setting, Puerto Rico, in this book?

Did you feel this was a story that could have taken place anywhere, or was the setting an integral part of the story? Did the book make you want to visit Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico felt essential to the story, not just as a backdrop. The culture, the history, and even the socioeconomic realities all play a role in what happened and why. Puerto Rico became its own character. I do not think this story would have had the same impact in a different setting. It also made me appreciate Puerto Rico more and want to experience it beyond just a tourist perspective.
